What You Can Do with Your Phone

Posted on December 20, 2011 08:46 PM

As the cell phone blends into our life, people now almost can not live without cell phones. We need cell phones in work, in daily life for contacting with others. When we are on a bus or metro, we can use a cell phone to brows the internet and play some small games or listen to some music. We can also use a cell phone to make video chatting with friends faraway. And we can share our lives with others on Facebook and Twitter with cell phones.

All the items above are known by most of people, however, there are some functions you do not know about your cell phones. I think mostly because no one has told you the unknown functions from you first phone. Where do you buy your first phone? Some older people must buy their first phone from a shop, at that time; they may not have online shop for buying cell phones. Some young guys may buy their first phones online. Some online shops provide the cell phones of famous brands, such as Samsung, Motorola and LG. While, some online stores provide some unknown brands, of which china phone is the main force. We have to admit Chinese do have their own way of trade which I may call it a mode of china sales. They sell those cell phones with low prices for they have very cheap labor force, at the same time; they provide most of phones on their websites with Free Shipping service. So their products are quite popular on the internet.

Both the ways you buy a phone will not teach you how to use the phone one step by step. They may only give you a instruction which is unavailable for most of people whose intelligence is OK and normal. So the hidden and useful functions of cell phones are not used or found by most of people, however, in the normal situation, these functions are not useful at all. So next, I would like to introduce you with those functions.

Firstly, when you go hiking to an area that is out of networks service, you can dial number 112 the aim of which is to command your cell phone to search any existing network and you can use the network even if you are not a user of it. If you met trouble alone in the wild, and your cell phone can not work at the same time due to the signal problem, you can dial 112. That may help you.

Secondly, if the battery of cell phone is very low and you can not charge it. But you have to make an important call. At this time, press you key for *3370#. Your cell phone will restart with the activate power and at the same time your cell phones battery will grow up to 50%. The activate power has to be charged next time when you charge your cell phone.

Thirdly, telecom companies will charge you when you dial the 411 information calls. There is a way to avoid this, for you dial the 411 only for some information and inquiry. They should not charge you. You can just dial:(800) 373-3411 without any charge at all. Just try it on your cell phone.

I have written some hidden functions of cell phones, and I do believe most of you have been interested in those functions; some of the practical guys have tried on their own cell phones. So do those functions work, the answer is absolutely yes. Remember those functions deeply in your brain, I am sure at sometime on someday, you can definitely use one of those functions and that may even help you to get away from danger, out of trouble.

Functions of Mobile Devices You Are Using

Posted on December 20, 2011 01:10 AM

We have passed through the time of using 2G net to 3G net, and now we are entering the age of 4G. We can see that the network of mobile devices is becoming faster and faster. And the mobile devices are different from what we used in the past. The rise of smart phone and tablet pc devotes to the booming of 3G net. Surely, we can not ignore laptop and the fun it has brought to us. However, nowadays, android phone, iPhone and tablet android, iPad are the favorite of the mobile people.

Main functions vary of the same devices among different countries. As I know, one or two years earlier in China, due to the expensive telecom fee, most people can not fully make use of a mobile device. Most of them use the smart phones as phones that can only make calls and send messages. Ops, they can also use the high pixel camera for taking a picture. Things have turned better recent years as 3G net began in China. They can now use the network service easily and cheaply. And at the same time, the convenience and speed of 3G net also benefit the tablet market, people began to buy tablet. The favor of people toward tablet make many electronic factories begin to produce cheap tablet. And now, people in China can enjoy using those devices comfortably though the using fee is much higher than that of US and EU. Chinese use them most for online chatting and browse internet. Also they have got their own online community which is not the popular facebook all around the world. They also play games on tablet, most of the games they play are for free unlike the situation in the US and EU.

So what do people of the US and EU do on those mobile devices? Americans have taken the mobile devices into their lives. They use their phones to make a payment when they get on a bus or metro. Besides, Americans use the mobile devices to find the discounts of goods on holidays. And then, they use their phones or tablets as GPS to find the stores where provide discounts. Many people admit that they benefit from the discount information the mobile devices provide with. Most of them enjoy the ads on the phones and believe the ads do save their money and provide them more choices. However, most of those people who would like to receive discount information and are mostly young people aged from 17 to 25 years old. Older people can not receive the information or they are too busy to spend some time on phones. Same with the situation in China, young people like to share their activities and emotions on the internet from mobile devices, mostly on Facebook and Twitter. The community network does bring us a lot of benefit and you can look for friends all over the world.

It seems that I have never talked about laptop which used to be the most popular device for us and brings us a lot of fun. But the revolution of tablet pc and smart phone is quite amazing. The storm they bring to us will last for quite a long time. And we have to admit, those devices do bring us a lot of convenience no matter in life or study. And we can also communicate with our friends on the online social network.

Wearing Your Computer on Your Sleeve

Posted on December 20, 2011 12:58 AM

The invention of the smartphone has created a world where millions of people stroll through life constantly staring into a mobile device, like Narcissus at the edge of a pond I know. I’m one of them.

People are not going to put these devices down in the near future. Realistically, we will become only more absorbed by the Screen. Technology will have to solve this problem. It will do so by creating wearable computers. Wearable computing is a broad term. Technically, a fancy electronic watch is a wearable computer. But the ultimate version of this technology is a screen that would somehow augment our vision with information and media.

Over the last year, Apple and Google have secretly begun working on projects that will become wearable computers. Their main goal: to sell more smart phones. (In Google’s case, more smart phones sold means more advertising viewed.)

In Google’s secret Google X labs, researchers are working on peripherals that — when attached to your clothing or body — would communicate information back to an Android smartphone.

People familiar with the work in the lab say Google has hired electronic engineers from Nokia Labs, Apple and engineering universities who specialize in tiny wearable computers.

Apple has also experimented with prototype products that could relay information back to the iPhone. These conceptual products could also display information on other Apple devices, like an iPod, which Apple is already encouraging us to wear on our wrists by selling Nanos with watch faces.

A person with knowledge of the company’s plans told me that a “very small group of Apple employees” had been conceptualizing and even prototyping some wearable devices.

One idea being discussed is a curved-glass iPod that would wrap around the wrist; people could communicate with the device using Siri, the company’s artificial intelligence software.

The brain that brings all these things together is the smartphone, which after all is really the first wearable computer. Researchers note that the smartphone is almost never more than three feet away from its user. It is often just inches from the bed during the night as well, and has replaced the alarm clock for many people.

As a result, the smartphone is going to be the hub for our information sharing and gathering. Think of it as a force field that will engulf us wherever we are, transmitting power and Internet access to sensors and screens that are tacked to our clothing.

Michael Liebhold, a senior researcher specializing in wearable computing at the Institute for the Future in Palo Alto, Calif., predicts that the next step in technology is the blurring of the real and virtual worlds.Over the next 10 years, he says, he envisions that people will be wearing glasses with built-in screens and, eventually, contact lenses — with working displays.

“Kids will play virtual games with their friends, where they meet in a park and run around chasing virtual creatures for points,” he said.Fashion will most likely be one of the first disruptions. Imagine teenagers being able to design their own virtual clothing that others wearing heads-up displays can see.

Parents, teachers and friends could be shown entirely different outfits. For example, I could look like a giant pink cat in a bustier to my friends, but my boss would see me in a fancy Italian suit.

At least, I hope that’s what he would see.

The alternative, I’m afraid, might call for a technological solution of its own.

What do you expect from Christmas rush

Posted on December 14, 2011 09:48 PM

It is again the time of Christmas rush when people turn out to be crazy for the discount goods in the market or shopping mall. The day before it, people will stand in line for a whole night, and people most in the front stick their faces on the mall door; while behind the door, guards embattle just like they are under attack and defend the crowds of people to rush in, the scene of which reminds me of zombie movies, where crowds of zombies want to eat the ordinary people hiding in the houses.

However, women are the main forces of that rush, they want to buy cheap clothes, cheap shoes and cheap things in the super market, like a TV she has been expecting for a long time which is too expensive ordinarily. At the same time, they can buy some foods and budgets with low prices and enjoy them at home. You have to know, it is quite expensive usually.

I myself, avoid the Christmas rush, because I think I may be infected with some disease. I am a shopper who loves to shop online for the convenience and you do not need to fight with others in the mall or market. I will send people books, jewelry groupon coupons and some budgets. At this time of year, most online stores provide Free Shipping service; you can save some money for that. All of those things are bought online instead of in the mall or super market.

At the same time, the discount you can get from online shop is no less than that of the mall of supermarket. Most of the items on online shops are running on Drop Shipping services, which cuts off many distribution steps and this Drop Ship way of selling is specially offered on the net.

I like to buy books most no matter online or offline, I love them very much. One can learn a lot from a book not from the budgets or items that may make you feel happy for a couple of hours. For me, I think they are the best gifts for Christmas, or no matter what kind of holiday they are also the best.

If you buy children’ books and read them for your kids over and over again which I regard as the best gifts for your kids, when they listen to the stories, they may laugh, feel sad or exited and so on. It is definitely a better for a piece of clothing, I suppose.

Try to switch the focus of teenagers for they now show more interests in dressing themselves up for a party and have sex which is too early for them, a good way is to give him or her a book that may guide the way leading. Buy some books for the young guys that are on work, maybe books on how to do business or how to cooperate with your colleges and how to act when on work. Buy some cook books for those who are interested in this, a cookbook on how to cook the delicious Chinese food. For them, that is of course a surprise.

If you do not know where to buy those books, you can search them on the internet; Amazon.com is also a good choice, where you can find huge quantities of books. When people are rushing into the market of mall, be still and sit in front of your computer for online shopping. And then you will feel totally relaxed. And enjoy the holiday without the Christmas rush, spend more time reading some books you have been interested in. Or make some Christmas cookies you have always been promising to your kids or family, that is more meaningful and interesting, I promise.

At last, wish you had good holidays.

How 3D ads will make their way on to your phone

Posted on December 08, 2011 08:57 PM

It's a topic I've been wrestling with since the emergence of the HTC Evo 3D, the first 3D-capable smartphone. I came to the conclusion that it was largely a gimmick, or something that piques your interest but quickly fades away. For some, it's just a bit of headache-inducing flash.

Still, that hasn't stopped more companies from moving into the area. The latest two are media startup Cooliris and mobile advertising company Smaato, which recently said they were partnering to deliver 3D advertisements on mobile devices.

Fortunately, the two aren't exactly talking about images that seemingly pop out of your iPhone. Rather, the service enables the delivery of 3D-rendered images, allowing you to rotate, disassemble, and reassemble that picture in a mobile ad. Since they don't pop off the screen, the images don't need any special displays or glasses. The two plan to show off the technology later this month at the AppNation conference in San Francisco, where the ads will show up on iPhones and iPads.

Cooliris's business unit Adjitsu has a demo up showing off the ability to manipulate a fully rendered BMW. As you can see, it's pretty nifty.

"Rich Media is an important part for the substantial growth of mobile advertising and we see this as a great opportunity for our developers and publishers to maximize their revenue," Smaato CEO Ragnar Kruse said in a statement earlier this month.

Cooliris's Adjitsu will use Smaato, which already delivers mobile ads to a network of advertisers and devices, to expand its presence in Asia and Europe.

"Together we will enable consumers to re-experience brands, products and services like never before," Cooliris CEO Soujanya Bhumkar said.

Still, while it's cool enough technology, I still question how effective it will be.

When I tested the Evo 3D, I was eager to show off the phone's special camera and display to coworkers. They agreed it was cool, but their interest waned fast. I wonder if the same fleeting engagement would occur with Adjitsu's ads.

To be fair, Adjitsu's technology isn't the kind of gimmicky 3D that the Evo 3D, and later on the LG Thrill 4G, employs. The BMW example looks fairly practical if you're interested in buying a new car.

There's been a lot made out of mobile ads in general. Mobile adverting is why Google got into the mobile game with Android in the first place. It's also one of the primary business models driving the apps market.

But I sometimes wonder how effective these banner and display ads are. When playing games, browsing the mobile Web, or watching videos, I largely ignore the ads, or speed through them as quickly as possible.

Maybe 3D-rendered images may cause me to pause a bit. For now, I'm still not sold.

Enjoy your fingertrips on the android tablet

Posted on November 21, 2011 04:48 AM

Android OS has been popular for the new tablet laptop based on the supplier. Android OS is open to the public so countless software and apps are developed adopted to the OS.

So what are the main functions of a tablet android will be displayed when buying it? I have summerized below the main features of the principal.

Operation system

Android 2.3 will be the last version of android tablets and has an excellent performance. People are waiting for the latest version 3.0, code-named honeycomb, however, there is no product available though, accessible. As we know android OS was originally used to be made with smaller size Android smart phones. The version 3.0 is a heavy burden for a tablet pc.

Processor
The heart of the tablets. The tablets must be installed with a no less than 600 MHz processor, but it is important for a gadget with no less than 800MHz or you will get practical experience apparent delay.

Memory and SD slot
RAM memory sizes that are around 512 is good, while high-end units come with 1 GB of memory. The standard memory varies from 2 GB to 32 GB or more. But usually they are equiped with an external SD card slot which supports about 32 GB. So ensure they do have SD card slot.

Touch screen

A resistive screen or a capacitive screen? The capacity is much better than the resistive screen, while some people prefer resistive. Capacitive screen can recognize the touch, if it touches an electrical conductor that is, for example, the human body.
Resistive touch screen recognizes when the stress on the screen is detected. It is actually much improved in the rule to use with fingernails or sharper object, the stylus like a finger. Well, most of the tablets are now with a capacitive screen for a better touch sense of fingernails.

Net 3G and Wi-Fi
Most fun of tablet will lose without the 3G net and Wi-Fi. However, you need a few hundred dollars more for 3G support. You can still get offers to Wi-Fi version tablet pc and enjoy the world wide web at a variety of places, like many public libraries, e-book distributors, retailers and airports provides Wi- fi hotspot.
