When you go toNorth Molucca, and drop inTernateIsland, don’t forget to taste aer guraka. It’s a warm drinking, make your body hot and sweat after a long diving and snorkeling aroundMaitaraIsland.
Aer guraka was made from sugar palm and ginger water, mixed together into the almost black and strong of ginger taste. It was served in a glass with a grass grain of canary on top of it. It taste ‘ginger emulsion sensation’ with crispy grease canary on your tongue.
There is another name of aer guraka, for example bandrek or wedang jahe in centre of Java, but still it does not have canary on it.
It’s a common to serve aer guraka after heavy lunch or dinner, especially after eat papeda – a sago porridge- wit many kinds of fish dishes. People belief that aer guraka could decrease fat on food process in the body. Believe or not is up to you. But still, I like aer guraka very much.
