If youve ever been to Sonic or any other restaurant that offers the unique, nugget ice that Sonic provides, youve probably asked yourself at one point or another: "What kind of ice machine does Sonic use?" The chewable, frozen gem-sized treats can be eaten on their own and also work well to cool your drinks. They taste light, fluffy, and refreshing. This ice has even found Facebook pages dedicated to its existence. These one-of-a-kind frozen treats come from none other than a (cue the drumroll) Scotsman Nugget Ice Machine!

In 1981, Scotsman Industries created their first nugget machine, and for the next 30 years, this ice has seen its popularity explode, especially when Sonic began offering it in their signature beverages. When people found out that the ice in their glasses was as enjoyable as their drinks themselves, its popularity skyrocketed even further. Other companies quickly took note of the popularity spike, and began developing their own nugget producing machines. Ice-O-Matic offered Pearls. Hoshizaki offered Cubelets, and Manitowoc stuck with the traditional Nugget name. Scotsmans ice maker however, was and has remained the machine preferred by Sonic Drive-In.

If youre looking for the exact ice machine that makes Sonic Ice, you would be led to one of Scotsmans commercial ice making heads. Scotsman offers four of these units: the N0422, the N0622, the N0922, and the N1322. These four machines provide anywhere between 300 and 1300 pounds of nugget ice on a daily basis. Generally, the size of the establishment and the demand for ice will determine which machine is used in each location. The hours which the business is open for operation will also play a role in the purchase of a suitable machine. Its hard not to be when every time I have a carrying/storage need there is always a perfect solution that that has a Case Logic label on it.This item is no different. I have a Panasonic Lumix camera that resides in another Case Logic case with extra pockets belt loop etc. which fits my need for that camera perfectly. However I wanted a smaller quicker point and shoot which I found in the Samsung EC-ST65 Digital Camera with 14 MP and 5x Optical Zoom (Indigo Blue)This is one of the smallest cameras Ive had my hands on as it uses a proprietary slimline rechargeable battery instead of AA or even AAA batteries. It also uses a microSD card instead of a regular SD card. So for my needs All I wanted was a case that I could store the camera safely in. No need for spare battery or card storage and its so tiny you can just slip it in your pocket.I didnt see where they indicate the material used but it sure feels like the same neoprene used for my Kindle case. No guarantees there though. You can check out the camera link above and compare the size compared to the case and get a better feel for it when I say the my Samsung just fits like the case was tailor make for it. If it werent for the fact that the material stretches it might not quire fit.As for their claim that you can use it for a smart phone...? Um... yeah. Id really like to see the smart phone that would actually fit.Anyway the construction of this case is solid. The stitching is very tight with no unsightly seams. There are twin "beads" of cushioning around the entire interior perimeter so that when the case is zipped up it provides protection all the way around the edge of your device. The seams also seal together under the zipper so that if this is truly neoprene gives a water resistant barrier.One face of the case is about twice as thick as the other and is much stiffer adding a nice touch of protection for the screen of your device. The zipper pull is rubber coated for ease of use and the wrist strap is about 9" long with a lobster claw clasp that clips onto the "D" ring on the bottom of the case.For those of you who have experience with Case Logic products its worth emphasizing that this particular case is made from an entirely different material than what were used to seeing from C.L. The development of these type of ice machines has enabled individuals to enjoy the cool freshness provided by an abundant ice supply anytime and anywhere. At present, you see these ice machines practically everywhere. Fishermen bring along portable ice machines during fishing trips to keep their catch fresh. Families enjoying a picnic or simply camping out can bring along a portable ice maker. These ice machines have also become a convenient fixture at garden and outdoor parties.

But just what are portable ice makers? These are compact, self-contained freezing units that can produce ice. Because of their small size, they can sit on your countertop or you can bring them along on trips. All you need to do is to plug it into an electric outlet and your machine will be producing ice in no time. If no power outlet is on hand, a separate attachment will allow you to plug the ice maker in an alternate power source, such as a car battery.

How does it work? There are two types of portable ice machine mechanisms. The most common type utilizes metal rods that freeze the water around it, transforming it into ice. Once the ice is formed, the rod heats up, allowing the ice to melt partially so that it falls into the storage bin. The other type of ice maker uses molds. Water pours into these molds and is frozen into ice cubes. They are then ejected into collection bin. All ice machines can be connected to a water line. But you also have the option of simply filling the receptacle with water using a pitcher or container.

Other features of an ice maker include a thermostat which will allow you to create ice cubes of different sizes. Some come with chopping blades so that you can create nugget ice. It is important to mention that these particular ice maker can be very noisy. Ice makers also have a side panel that will allow you drain out excess water easily.

An average sized-machine can produce 12 to 15 ice cubes every 6 to 8 minutes, with an average daily yield of 30 pounds. These kinds of machines come in stylish finishes, including white, black, bisque stainless steel or titanium. For the more trendy homemakers, you even have portable ice maker in red, pink and other neon colors. The most popular finish among consumers is stainless steel. However, you need to be careful of the exterior because it is vulnerable to scratches.

US plug AC 100-240V To DC 12V 2A Power Supply Converter Adapter for Led Lights Strips (Electronics) I use five of these to supply power to LED light strips in various parts of my home to include the back of HDTV and speakers under the hallway cabinet accent lighting back of night stands and dresser accent lighting etc. They never feel warm to touch and have been reliable so far. Garmin GPSMAP 78sc 2.6-Inch Waterproof Marine GPS and Chartplotter (Electronics) I got my Garmin 78sc a couple of weeks ago to use not only on the water (Chesapeake Bay) but for hiking and geocaching. By now Ive sailed for 3 days(about 15 hours total run-time) and the alkaline batteries are about half gone according to the meter so Im fairly satisfied with the battery life. I havent tried NiMH rechargeables yet.I was concerned the unit was going to be huge (its intentionally large to give internal air space for water flotation ability) but its not too big or heavy. It was smaller than I was expecting it to be. Also having the buttons on top of the screen are a little weird but its not a big issue in use. Its very fast in finding the satellites and switching display screens etc. The built in electronic compass (multi-axis)calibrates quickly and reacts quickly to movement but seems very accurate. There is an option to have the map orient to either the compass heading (direction you point the GPS) or from the track (direction you were moving in is oriented "up").This is my third hand held GPS--before this I had a high end Magellan and a DeLorme with topo maps. I am much more impressed with this unit than the others. Of course technology marches on but the famed "ease of use" that Garmin GPSs are known for along with the raw capabilities of this unit for marine use are there along with the faster speed. So far Im very happy.It has all the marine functions I was hoping for. The included g2 coastal marine charts are good very readable in bright sunlight. It has a "Man Overboard Button" where when pressed and held not only marks the position but immediately give you the option to navigate back to that position. It also has "Anchor Drag" alarms as well as low water depth and high water depth alarms (that key off the chart depth readings from low tide). All these alarms are adjustable by the user. I bought a separate Garmin boat mount made for this unit. I have not mounted it on the boat (3 screw holes required) but it seems to hold the unit well with some adjustability for viewing angle.Like all handheld Garmins the "basemaps" on the 78sc (on land not on the water)are fairly useless and optional maps can be expensive. I recently loaded the separately purchased TOPO 100K US maps on DVD. When I loaded as many map regions up to the 78scs internal memory (1.6GB I think?) about 70% of the continental US would

I have never paid over $5 for 1 and I have had great luck with them. The only thing I havent liked is that most cases that you can buy in that price range are not very protective. This case is! I bet I could pull and Niomi Campbell and chuck it at someone and it will be ok. Who needs to spend $20 on a case when you can get this one for a 1/4 of the price!Very happy!
