Calphalon Electrics 3 in 1 Immersion Hand Blender I used to use immersions blenders with plastic shafts and cages because I have non-stick and porcelain-covered cast iron pans. I didnt want the surface scratched by metal immersion blenders. Of course the problem with the immersion blenders with plastic shafts is that they are sensitive to temperature and eventually they crack and need to be replaced. "Why" I wondered "did no one make a little silicone protector that could be slipped onto the edge of the blender cage?" Eventually metal blenders started to come with these silicone protectors but only for the very expensive models. That is until Calphalon came out with their immersion blender.This is an amazing tool. Ive made hummus tomato puree soups (pea bean and roasted red pepper) and mayonnaise. All came out with just the right texture without having to pull out the regular blender. Cleanup is amazingly easy. Just buzz the shaft into some soapy water and rinse (if youre using the silicone ring remove it first). Just dry it off and slide it back into the drawer. I used the whisk attachment for quickly incorporating eggs into pate choux. That was just an experiment but it turned out really well. The texture of the puffs wasnt affected at all and it was a LOT less effort than doing it by hand. Using the cup with the blade I minced chicken for homemade chicken sausage. There was a lot less cleanup than there is when I use the food processor. Calphalon created a real winner that works as well as immersion blenders that cots hundreds of dollars and at a cost most people can afford.

He is an over the road truck driver and I thought this would be nice so he could make coffee of a morning. He used it twice and it burned out. It may be that it was just a defective product but on the other hand at a cost of about $12 it is not worth taking the chance. I would have returned the product but it may be months before I see him again and he had already discarded the packaging. My loss could be your gain. Dont buy!

SPT Countertop Dishwasher Silver (Misc.) I just bought this dishwasher and was thrilled at how quickly it arrived. I purchased it on Wednesday and it arrived on Thursday! Tracking was a breeze. Once I unpacked the unit I was surprised at how light it was.It came with all the parts to install it to my sinks faucet though it did take me a few minutes to discover the plastic hookup actually had the faucet adaptor inside it. Once I pulled the metal faucet adapter out and screwed it onto my sinks faucet - I was ready to go. I hooked up all the tubes - be careful not to over tighten them but get them tight! I plugged the unit in and turned on the water. No leaks so I put a few dishes in and started the washer last night.The unit is surprisingly quiet (for a dishwasher) and it takes awhile for the load to run. Once the load was finished I just open the door to let everything dry out. Tonight will be my second try with the dishwasher. So far everything is good no leaks. I set the unit up on a kitchen cart with wheels so I can just move it to the sink when Im ready to use it.The silver color is nice and the door design is very simple. No buttons to press before you can open the door or close it. Just a simple pull or push to shut it. When the unit is powered opening or closing the door results in a beep.This is an energy star efficient washer so Im hoping it saves me on time and water (hand washing dishes tends to take me more water than this unit uses).I will try and edit or add another review once Ive had the unit a little longer.

Within an hour or two of running I could already tell a noticeable difference in the air quality. I have the ionizer running as well. The air is fresher and I can breathe easier. It is the first time in years I woke up without my nose and throat congested from my dust/mold allergies.While the box states it is only for rooms up to 81sq.ft. I found it has worked really well in my slightly larger room. The high fan-speed is powerful but noticeable in sound. However it is only just as noisy as any "wind" type fan. However on the medium and low fan-speeds it is practically inaudible. It is currently on the medium fan-speed and my desktop computer is louder than it at this moment.This takes the Holmes "D" type filters and I can get a 2-pack at my local WalMart for $30. The instruction manual says that based on air quality and typical usage you should change the filter every 10 - 12 months. Therefore a $30 2-pack could last you two years. Also of course the Air Purifier does come with a filter preinstalled. Typical usage according to the instruction manual is operating it continuously.I do not smoke nor do I have any pets. So I cannot attest to its usefulness in that regard. However my room has a mold problem and I also have a dust allergy.I am quite please with the Holmes HAP706-U Air Purifier.

DeLonghi TRO715L Safeheat 1500W Basic Portable Oil-Filled Radiator - Light Grey (Misc.) I live in an older home that can be very drafty this makes the winters pretty cold. our heater just wasnt cutting it and I was tired of cold toes so I decided to purchase 2 of these heaters for the basement and the master bedroom. I got them after lots of research online. I didnt want to increase my utility bill much (lower if possible) and wanted something that would be safe and easy to use also be able to maintain a consistent temperature. I chose this model because of its multiple power settings as well as it thermometer control and after a lot of digging I found a good sale online. Once they arrived I set them up in a garage and did the "burn off" (turning the unit up to full power to burn off any residue left over) as directed. I left them running longer than was recommended (about 4 hours when 2 to 3 is recommended) due to the wonderful smell they were putting off I didnt want any of that in my bed room. after the smell started to dissipate I set them up in the targeted rooms and started off high thinking I was going to need a lot of heat to get the room to warm up to my surprise I didnt in a few hours the room was far to hot and I had to start turning it down to figure out the comfortable range. turns out I only needed the lowest setting to maintain a comfortable temperature in my room the basement need the medium but neither needed the highest. after days of using these I noticed my furnace kicking on much less and the temperature being consistent. they warm up a pretty larger area than expected. the only reason I wouldnt give a 5 star is they dont heat up fast they arent great for places that need heat quick but are great for places that need consistent heat. over all a great product we will see how the power bill fares.

It is great for the beginner or the occasional sausage maker but as you start making larger quantities it starts to fall down. The biggest problem is that if you are stuffing anymore than about three pounds of sausage it just takes too long. The grinder is great for 3-5 pounds of meat but the motor begins to heat up after that. If you are just starting or will only make an occasional batch of sausage then this is the grinder/stuffer for you.The quality of the equipment is top notch. Very robust.

When that happens there is the potential for pooling water to be drawn into the plenum causing flooding. so keep a few as spares...This not a fault of the product but rather well water sediments that corrode the metal.

Dustless Technologies 13141 Wet Dry Micro Pre Filter Bag 2-Pack (Tools & Home Improvement) I initially purchased the dustless vacuum for my husband. He does carpentry & drywall and I thought this would be a good purchase for him since he always cleans up when he is on the job. All the other wet/dry vacuums we have bought dont come close to this one and have been a waste of money.I then bought the sander attachment and the bags.Needless to say this vacuum and the bags are totally dustless and durablethe bags do not fall apart.We use the products in our shop also and the power of the vacuum is amazing.There is an accessory which we have been unable to locate for the vacuum itself a filter which is locatated at the top of the vacuum and also to be able to purchase additional attachments.Other wise we love the entire Loveless product line and highly recommend it.

Air-O-Swiss 7533 Deminral Granules Pk/3 (Misc.) Well I expected the humidifier to work the same way like with the original cartridge. To my surprise the granules are a totally different. First of all after the 24 h soaking period the cartridge was clogging up frequently and the humidifier stopped working. Shaking it up helped for a view hours but had to be repeated for several days. Now it is running constantly but it blows white dust all over the place like a very old cartridge.There is no indication on the packaging about the manufacturing date and I assume that this stuff is just too old. I missed the return window because I ordered it to have a spare when I need it and not for immediate use. Now I am stuck with useless granules and have to buy an entire cartridge and create more waste. Very disappointing for a top notch manufacturer!

Lansky 4-rod Turn Box Crock Stick Sharpener (LCD5D) (Sports) The sharpener:The sharpener contains four ceramic rods a dark gray coarse pair and a white fine pair which are stored conveniently in the wooden body (which is a nondescript varnished hardwood of the type found in cheap folding furniture for example.) In use these rods would be inserted into two pairs of holes drilled into the wooden case. The holes serve to hold the rods at a particular angle letting you create properly shaped repeatable edges on your knives.How to use it:If you are starting with a dull blade you start with the dark rods. You put them in the pair of holes that are spaced farther apart (as in the product photo.) Those holes are drilled at 20 degrees from vertical which will create an edge that is very close to the proper shape and make further sharpening go faster (I will explain that below.)You hold the wooden body with a free hand down on a countertop or tabletop then grip your knife in your other hand edge down and pointing forward and draw the knife edge against one of the rods downwards and backwards. You have to be careful to keep your other hand out of the path of the knife. You do a few strokes on one side then switch to the other.Since most knives have curved edges you should ideally draw the handle up as you draw it back in a rocker motion to keep the edge at a constant angle to the rods. With an 8" chefs knife it wouldnt matter much but with smaller knives with a deeper curve it might be important especially if you want the knife to be equally sharp from tip to heel.After the edge has been shaped (if you have a magnifying glass you can see when the "V" of the edge has flat sides that come to a point) and the knife doesnt seem to be getting sharper you remove those gray rods and take out the white rods and insert them in the other pair of holes and repeat the process. Those holes are closer and offset from each other so that the two rods actually cross so you can tell the two pairs of holes apart easily. Those holes are drilled at 25 degrees from vertical i.e. the rods slant more. (That means the knife edge will form a 50 degree angle which is a good compromise between sharpness and edge durability.) Because you formed the edge first with the coarse rods at 20 degrees the white rods will contact the knife only at the exact edge which is the only part that really matters. It doesnt have superfluous buttons and it seems to defrost and re-heat evenly.But...The dial which is simple enough to use is much harder to use than a simple keypad. Its very sensitive non-linear (meaning between 1 and 10 you can pick the exact number of seconds after 10 you can only get to the nearest 5 after 1 minute only the nearest 10 after 5 minutes only the nearest 15) and its always a guess how far to turn it. Turn too far then adjust. Then adjust again. And maybe again. I always know what I want to set it for and I could touch "4" then "5" much faster than I can find ":45" on the dial. Whyd they fix something that wasnt broken?To set the power level you have to press the Power Level button once for each 10% you want to go down. So if you want 90% you press it once. If you want 20% to soften butter you have to press it 8 times! Really? Why couldnt they use the dial for THAT?As others have said the screen is too dim. You have to be right in front of it to read it.I havent tried it on very many things yet but the sensor seems to let foods overcook even if you adjust it with the "Less" setting. And the instructions dont line up with the ovens size. They say it will work with e.g. 1-4 potatoes or 4-16 oz. of fresh vegetables. I could easily fit 8 potatoes in there without crowding or at least 2 pounds of vegetables. I got a big microwave because I cook for a big family. Dont give me space and then tell me I cant use it. And theres no sensor setting for beverages.I wanted to defrost for a fixed amount of time. So I pushed the Turbo Defrost button and then turned the dial to set the time. But you cant do that unless you reduce the power (push Power Level 7 times) and do it manually. So what I was actually doing was setting the weight. Not what I wanted. I then set it the right way but I didnt push "Stop/Reset" in between. What ended up happening was it did BOTH things since the default is 2 stage cooking. It was my mistake but it doesnt seem to me like it should automatically do one thing after the other unless you tell it to.Its not obvious how to set the time. You have to press the Timer/Clock button twice then set the time then press the button again. You hardly ever have to do it but its just seldom enough that I forget each time and have to

SPT SF-610 Portable Evaporative Air Cooler with Ionizer (Kitchen) There are so many things wrong with this unit that Im surprised Ive managed to remember them all. Some other reviewers have touched base on them already but here are the details:* You put water and/or ice in the top of the unit you cannot put water where the ice is and vice-versa. The area where you pour water into is about 3x2 inches in size (yes really!) while the area for ice is about 7x3 inches. You literally need a funnel or a small plastic tube to fill the unit up with water (see below). But it gets worse...* Easily the biggest flaw: the water/melted ice goes down a tube and literally into the casing of the unit! There is no water tank or centralized hold for liquids. The entire bottom of the unit is the "tank" if you can even call it that.* The two cooling packs provided contain some sort of cheap coolant liquid inside of them -- they do cool quite well but heres the problem: theyre physically too large. The cooling packs are dropped into the bottom of the casing (where the water is) right into the water. They dont mount inside anywhere.* The "door" for the cooling packs is too small for my hand (and I have small hands) which makes removing the cooling packs impossible. It took me a good 5 minutes using a pair of plastic pliers to grab a pack and remove it. The door is held shut with magnets which is admittedly nice. But the door empties right into the water "tank" which means you might as well fill it up from the side and not the top! What were they thinking when they engineered this thing?!* Water pump is a pump intended for aquariums. If you open up the back of the unit (which you have to do for water filter cleaning see below) you can peek inside and see quite clearly printed on the pump "AQUARIUM PUMP". Most aquarium pumps I know are loud not soft/quiet nor do they hum and because the pump is screw-mounted to the bottom of the unit (which is plastic) Im left thinking the entire unit must vibrate heavily when powered on. This makes you question the production quality of this item.* Water refill line is recessed deep inside the unit due to how the plastic casing is molded its impossible to read and its incredibly important (see above) to not go above a certain fill line. If you go above the line water will start to come out of the front of the unit and the rear of the unit (bottom of where the air filter starts).* The air/lint f

Hoover Brush Block Dual V WidePath / All Terrain 48437030 I discovered the hard way that I needed to clean the carpet fibers out of my Hoover Steam Cleaner brush block. (After using my steam cleaner a few times carpet fibers from my rug built up around the brushes jammed them and led to the plastic drive shaft on this brush block to break off. If youre looking at the picture of the product thats the little green "finger" sticking up in on the lower portion of the picture.) The entire part is made of plastic and while it feels a little flimsy I dont think it would have broken if I had properly cleaned the brushes after each use.After researching the part I bought a replacement brush block on Amazon. Be sure to check on the Hoover web site to make sure youre ordering the right brush block for your steam cleaner ... there are at least two different blocks and they arent compatible. But once I received my replacement it installed easily and works fine.My only nit is that this simple brush block costs about ten percent of what it would cost to buy a new steam cleaner which seems a bit pricey.Bottom line ... keep your brush block clean. But if youre reading this review I assume youve already learned that lesson the same way I did!

This is why i felt the need to write a reviw myself. This fan is awesome! Is true that it is grey and not white but I dont really care for the color. It is smaller than i thought which was perfect since it was for my sons room. it doesnt make too much noise but is not too quiet either which serves my son as a white noise to fall asleep. I love the fan because for the price and size it works perfect! we rarely use it in level 3 usually 1-2 works just fine. You wont be dissapointed the quality is great although the front cover does feel a little cheap but it does the job! Other stores were out of them because they are not in season so buying it from here was convenient.
